Addiction Counselling

Consider the following:

  • Do you suffer an addiction problem with regards to alcohol and other illegal drugs?
  • Are you motivated to change?
  • Do you want to build a new future and come to terms with the past?
  • Do you want to find a new meaning and values in your life and fill the vacuum that your substance might have left?

If you can answer ‘yes’ then you might be ready to embark on a regular weekly counselling journey.

We can offer 12 free confidential counselling sessions to anyone who suffers an addiction problem . Counselling will take place on a weekly basis at a set time and date.

Counselling gives you a safe place to talk and is an opportunity to have a positive non-judgemental relationship. You and your counsellor will discuss and form an agreement on what issues you would like to look at in your counselling.

Access to counselling at PCS

There are two possibilities for you to get counselling for your addiction problem.

  1. If you are concerned about your drinking, please ring 02392 735 836 for booking a first consultation session. The phone line is open Monday to Friday from 6-9pm. Our free service applies only to people who live in Postcode area PO1- PO6.
  2. If you are already in contact with Cranstoun, Kingsway House or other treatment centres please discuss with professionals the option of counselling. Within two weeks a counsellor will contact you and arrange a day and time when you can meet.

Aftercare

There are various choices for you when the 12 session counselling has finished.

  1. You may wish to continue with counselling as a mainstream client at PCS. In this case you have to pay a counselling fee which is based on your income or ability to pay. Your addiction counsellor will discuss the option of transfer into the main counselling service and will write an assessment report for continuation of your one to one counselling work. There will be no possibility to continue with your addiction counsellor after the 12 sessions.
  2. You may wish to enter a post counselling therapy group at PCS. Group membership is free and participation is based on an agreement between you, other group members and group facilitators. This is a pilot project which will start at the end of 2007.
